Calathea lancifolia is a member of the plants known as "Prayer Plants". They received this name due to the fact that the leaves open and close (move up and down) with light or temperature, just like hands coming up to pray. The leaves are a beautiful burgundy red on the bottom with a spotted pattern on top. Its shape and pattern also have given it the common name "Rattle Snake Plant". Calathea love humidity and regular watering. Always be sure to use filtered water to avoid dry brown edges on the leaves.
